VPC - Connectivity Issues Support

For various router setups please click on the link below.

Connecting via DSL Modem (or Modem/Router combo)

It is recommended that you use your modems router and PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) login functionality if available. Simply program the modem with the PPP login information provided by your ISP and connect the VPC as in "Connecting via wired Ethernet to a Router" below.

The VPC can be upgraded to perform PPP login if needed. You must apply the modem patch by following the instructions here CLICK HERE.

Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into your VPC's Ethernet port and the other end into your DSL modem. Double click the Settings icon on your VPC's startup screen. When the Settings dialogue box is displayed double click Network Settings. Enter the PPP username and password provided by your ISP and click Connect.

Connecting via Wired Ethernet to a Router

Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into your VPC's Ethernet port and the other end into one of your router's LAN ports. The connection will be established automatically, but this may take up to 30 seconds.

Connecting via WIFI

To connect via WIFI first double click on the "Wifi Networks" icon.
The wireless LAN window will open.(please see below)
On the Wireless LAN screen click the Search Wifi Networks button.

Click on your wireless network's name, and then click the Connect Network button.

While trying to establish the connection, the status column will display "Connect Network".

If it is a secure network, the Encrypted Network dialogue box will appear. Enter your network's encryption key and press OK.

Establishing a Wifi connection can take up to 2 minutes. When the connection is successful, the status column will display "Connected" as well as the assigned IP address.

When an initial attempt to connect to a secure wireless network fails, a detailed security setting dialogue is displayed. Confirm that the detailed security settings match your router's settings and try connecting again.

The VPC supports secure wireless networking via WPA and WEP Open System encryption. It does not support WPA2 or WEP Shared Key encryption. If the VPC cannot connect to a router using the selected encryption method, try another supported encryption method. Routers typically allow WEP Open System keys to be specified in hexidecimal (HEX) or ASCII. The VPC refers to HEX as "16 band".
